Abstract: In this study, the hexane and methanol extracts of Croton campestris A., Ocimum gratissimum L. and Cordia verbenacea DC. were evaluated for antibacterial activity against strains of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The growth of all bacteria tested was inhibited by the extracts. The MIC values ranged from 128 to ≥ 1024 mg / mL. With the results obtained, the hexane and methanol extracts of Croton campestris, Ocimum gratissimum and Cordia verbenacea proved to be a promising source of research in natural products with antibacterial action.
