Abstract: We use a simple configuration space chiral model to evaluate nucleon and $\ensuremath{\Delta}\ensuremath{\sigma}$-terms. Analytic expressions are consistent with chiral counting rules and give rise to expected nonanalytic terms in the chiral limit. We obtain the results 43 MeV $\ensuremath{\le}{\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{N}\ensuremath{\le}$ 49 MeV and 28 MeV $\ensuremath{\le}{\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{\ensuremath{\Delta}}\ensuremath{\le}$ 32 MeV, depending on the $\ensuremath{\pi}N\ensuremath{\Delta}$ and $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\Delta}\ensuremath{\Delta}$ coupling constants used, which are compatible with values extracted from experiment and produced by other groups.
