Expansão Urbana Em Cidades Médias: Uma Reflexão a Partir Do Núcleo E Da Área Central De Montes Claros No Norte De Minas Gerais

Abstract: The transformation processing from the nucleus and the central area, in function of, over all, the urban expansion, has charaterized the urban space in several Brazilian cities. This is also the case of Montes Claros, a medium city located in the north of Minas Gerais, that until the middle of 20 th century had in the central nucleus a fun damental location, almost restricted, the economic activities, specially trade and services. From the 70’s the city present an urban configuration, among other processes, by the ne w centralities formation. From this premisse, the present text has aimed to analise the recent dinamic of the central nucleus and central area from Montes Claros, focusing on the territorial s, demographics and economical transformations that are happening in urban space of Montes Claroas motivating its urban expansion and the appearance of new centralities. The photographics material produced ilustrated the nucleus and entral area of Montes Claros, from its trade function, notably. A review and analysis of the existent literature happened referi ng to the thematics: midium city, central nucleus, central areas, urban expansion and economic decentralization with the aim of drawing pathways or theoreticals supports to elucidation and dialogues in the building process of work. In the sphere of central nucleus happend a brief analysis from one of the designs of Municipal Hall; titled by VIVO CENTRO; that seeks its revitalization, as well as the La ws of Director Plan and Use and Ocupation of the ground from Montes Claros
