Sarcoidosis Of the Heart a Study of Five Patients
Year: 1983
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: SummaryWe present five patients (mean age ± 1 SD: 48 ± 19 yrs) with cardiac sarcoidosis.Four patients had conduction disturbances, three showed important arrhytmias on electrocardiogram and one presented heart failure. Holter monitoring and/or stress testing was abnormal in all subjects studied. The 201thalliumscintigraphy performed in three patients demonstrated perfusion defects compatible with myocardial sarcoidosis. Before the institution of corticosteroid therapy, several patients received anti-arrhythmic agents, which, however, were not effective. In two patients a pacemaker was implanted. One patient, who refused a pacemaker, recently died.
