Abstract: The following analysis should be considered an initial to apply traditional econometric methods in explaining some of the basic relations within an important sector of the Croatian economy. In that regard the expression attempt has not been used to justify the subjective deficiencies of the analysis that follows, but to draw attention to some of the objective difficulties that need to be kept in mind when discussing its empirical results. In spite of the significant statistical problems, it seems that the is worth-while. It will offer at least rough information on the existing interrelations among some of the important economic variables in the economy in question.
