Abstract: Meningiomas that arise outside the cranial vault without a dural connection comprise about 1–2% of all meningiomas and are referred to as primary extradural meningiomas (PEMs), intraosseous type 1. When these tumors occur within bone, they may be initially misinterpreted radiologically as a primary bone lesion. We report the case of a 71-year-old woman found to have a right lateral orbital wall mass without dural involvement. Pathology confirmed a PEM and we review the clinical, radiologic, and pathologic features of this case.
