Abstract: This study analyzes the representation of mushrooms, particularly hallucinogenic varieties, in post-Hispanic indigenous Mexican codices and manuscripts. Through iconographic analysis of documents such as the Vindobonensis Codex and a 1549 land petition, it interprets symbolism linked to the ritual consumption of pulque and mushrooms. The work suggests that certain figures and graphic elements embody mushrooms or relate to magical and spiritual practices inducing states of intoxication and divine contact. Thus, the study enhances understanding of pre-Hispanic worldview and the role of these "medicines" in Mixtec and Nahuatl culture, enriching knowledge of the social and religious functions of mushrooms in Mesoamerica
