Comment: Planck scale still safe from stellar interferometry
Year: 2003
Type: preprint
Abstract: The recent paper of Lieu and Hillman [1] that measurements from stellar interferometry puts limits on the Planck scale is questioned. Their analysis is only relevant for a {\\em division of amplitude} interference system such as occurs in a Michelson interferometer. However, in a {\\em division of wavefront} interference effect, such as in the stellar interferometer, initial (lateral) coherence is developed simply by propagation of rays (cf. van Cittert-Zernike theorem). This case is immune to quantum gravity influences.
