Late Devonian magmatism in the Pripyat Palaeorift: a geodynamic model

Abstract: Late De vo nian magmatism in the Pripyat Trough, Belarus was as so ci ated with the de vel op ment of the intraplate Pripyat-Donets Palaeorift. Mag matic rocks be long to an al kali-ultrabasic–al kali-basaltoid suite. These are rep re sented by ex plo sive, ef fu sive, subvolcanic and vol ca nic fa cies. The mag matic ac tiv ity and rock com po si tion changes from the pe riph ery to the ax ial part of the Pripyat Trough, cor re spond ing to the gen eral trend of de struc tive pro cesses in the rift ing zone. Geodynamically, the Pripyat al kali-ultrabasic rocks rep re sent a se ries of mag matic suites of the Pripyat-Donets palaeovolcanic re gion co in cid ing with a zone of dis ap pear ance of Late De vo nian di ver gence pro cesses in the south-west of the East Eu ro pean Craton.
