Functional Colloids: Optomagnetically Controlled Microparticles Manufactured with Glancing Angle Deposition (Part. Part. Syst. Charact. 7/2015)
Year: 2015
Type: article
Abstract: A scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image of a monolayer of composite dielectric-ferromagnetic microparticles synthesized using glancing-angle deposition (GLAD) is shown. It is capable of simultaneous optical and magnetic trapping. As shown by R. L. Clark and co-workers on page 734, this additional control technique enables decoupled control of rotation and translational forces, permitting advances in the fields of advanced micro- and nano-manufacturing as well as single-molecule force microscopy studies.
