Influência de jejum alimentar no desempenho e rendimento em praticantes de corrida em Lauro de Freitas/BA
Year: 2011
Type: article
Abstract: The goal of this study was to compare possible differences between glycemic behavor, performance, VO2, and bodily efficiency of a group of adult runners in and out of food abstinence in Lauro de Freitas, BA. Material and methods: 10 individuals practicing running took part in this study. During two days, they were subjected to a 20m Luc-Léger test. Glucose dosage was done in three different periods: in food abstnence, placebo post-drink and carbohydrate post-drink, and after exercising. Results: There was an increase in glycemia in both collecting days, being bigger during the carbohydrate ingestion day (91,6±122,6mg/dL). There was an improvement in VO2maximum and in bodily efficacy, when all the subject improved their test level and stages. Discussion: Food abstnence and bodily exercising provide hyperglycemic hormone stimuli which improve glucose availability to cells, keeping adjusted plasmatic concentration of glucose to meet the metabolic requirements by exercising, improving the individual’s bodily conditioning. Conclusion: One can conclude that carbohydrate ingestion is essential during the period pre-training in order to improve VO2maximum and the following improvement in the athlete’s performance and efficacy.
