Abstract: This article seeks mainly to determine the specific role played by the variable of time with regard to processes of political change. What is the relationship between the traits of a particular institutional framework and its concrete possibilities for enduring or for being transformed over a period of time? To provide a solution to this problem, the author analyzes two different temporalities commonly associated to the study of political change: temporality linked to the structures (long term) and to junctures (short term).
