Truth-telling in clinical practice.
Year: 1994
Type: article
Abstract: Disclosure by doctors to patients has changed during the past 30 years in the direction of honesty, but deception and nondisclosure are still common. Clear ethical and legal precedents and guidelines regarding truth-telling exist. Physicians should not protect patients from potentially upsetting information; they will be held responsible should patients be injured due to failure to disclose.
