Computer assisted evaluation of the jaundiced patient
Year: 2005
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: A computer program has been developed which allows a physician to assess various diagnostic strategies that might be considered for evaluating the patient who is jaundiced in whom an obstructive etiology is suspected. The system uses decision theory to analyze the strategies under consideration. Programmed in LISP, the system allows easy interaction with the physician so that patient-specific or location-dependent factors can be tailored into the analysis. We anticipate that these programs will impact on patient care by streamlinig the number of tests ordered and by sequencing these tests in the most efficacious and cost-effective manner.
