Threshold effects in charm hadroproduction

Abstract: We describe calculations of $c\overline{c}$ production to next-to-next-to-leading order and next-to-next-to-leading logarithm near threshold in pp and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ interactions. We study the relevance of these calculations for existing $c\overline{c}$ total cross section data by examining their sensitivity to partonic threshold kinematics, their convergence properties, and their scale dependence.
