Abstract: Reviews 99have no scruples about using this knowledge in order to get parental attention and care. The book is well planned and presents interesting data on scientific research that health care professionals can benefit from in their everyday work. The authors do not provide a direct 'how to do it' guide for practitioners. The information given concerns general principles, including excellent and extensive guidelines in making assessments and in identlfylng the most effective strategies to adopt in treating individual cases.Despite a relatively extensive literature on baby crying, feeding and sleeping, the actual knowledge is still scarce. To put an end to many current 'beliefs' requires considerable multidisciplinary research and the authors do not consider that a digest based on scientific facts alone will be possible in the near future.
