Applications de méthodes géophysiques de prospection à l'étude de sites préhistoriques et protohistoriques
Year: 1973
Type: article
Abstract: Geophysical surveys on six archaeological sites in Israel are reported. Measuring conditions and the various types of structures examined are described as well as difficulties encountered in map interpretation. Magnetic prospection is suitable for tombs carved in the rock and subsequently filled with earth (El Ful, Ben-Shemen) ; resistivity measurements are particulary adapted to the exploration of stone structures (Hazor, Gezer, Arad, Abou Gosh). Positive and negative results obtained after control by excavation are discussed.
