Karparti ecology: Recognition of Aboriginal ecological knowledge and its application to management in north‐western Australia
Year: 2001
Type: article
Abstract: The application of Aboriginal knowledge, the result of millennia of experience, is essential to improve ecological management and inform environmental understanding.A case study from the Kimberley in north-western Australia, however, shows that the management responsibilities of traditional custodians need to be respected if Aboriginal knowledge is to be shared in ways that are beneficial for people, their country, and the interests of the broader Australian community.
