Metamaterial Silk Composites at Terahertz Frequencies

Abstract: Fabrication and characterization of the first large area metamaterial structures patterned on free-standing biocompatible silk substrates is reported. Strong resonance responses at terahertz frequencies are shown, providing a promising path towards the development a new class of metamaterial-inspired bioelectric and biophotonic devices.
