Histology and histochemistry of pericarp of grain legumes: Cajanus cajan, Vigna mungo and Vigna radiata.
Year: 1986
Type: article
Abstract: Histochemical localization of insoluble polysaccharides, total proteins, DNA and RNA has been made on developing pod walls of Cajanus cajan, Vigna mungo and Vigna radiata. The concentration of polysaccharides, proteins and nucleic acids is high during the early stages of development, however, it declines gradually as the seed matures. Function of the pericarp, on the basis of the present data and previous studies, is discussed.
