Abstract: The paper deals with a cycle depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin, in the middle zone of the narthex of the Church of the Annunciation in the Monastery of Gradac. The identification of the scenes is possible owing to the preserved fragments of the wall-painting and by comparing them to those in similar monuments. Special attention is devoted to the iconographic analysis of the cycle, and numerous analogies are highlighted between the Gradac compositions and the relevant scenes in important contemporary and slightly later Byzantine churches.
