Year: 1986
Type: article
Abstract: Marie-Anne Polo de Beaulieu. Statistic Study of the Structure of the Medieval Exemplum. The medieval exemplum has until now only been studied for its religious or folk content and for its didactic: whereas it is here tackled by statistic indicators (index of frequencies, calculations of percentages and « écarts réduits ») destined to specify the composition of its vocabulary and the characteristics of its structure. Four fields of the exemplum clearlv differentiate: the medium of information, the moral, the story and its allegoric exegesis. Each of these parts of the exemplum distinguish itself by a specific vocabulary according to a particular function and moment of the predication.
