Application of EWMA and CUSUM models to School Absenteeism Surveillance for Detecting Infectious Disease Outbreaks in Rural China
Year: 2014
Type: article
Abstract: Since April 1, 2012, an integrated syndromic surveillance system (ISSC) has been implemented in rural Hubei Province, China. School absenteeism surveillance is an important part of the system. At the beginning of the project, the suspected diseases outbreak detection mainly depended on researchers' daily data check. The workload was too much to expand the system largely. For early identification and automatic warning of school infectious disease outbreaks, this abstract compared different models to choose the optimal model.
