Abstract: Introduction: The incidence of invasive fungal infections is increasing worldwide and rare fungi - neither belonging to the genera Aspergillus, Candida, Pneumocystis or Cryptococcus, nor being endemic or regional, such as Histoplasma spp. or Coccidioides spp. - are increasingly identified as causative pathogens. Reliable, evidence based treatment recommendations for these species have not been established, yet.
