Abstract: Two different behaviors…︁ of alkyne-tethered dinucleosides are described by M. D. Sevilla, R. Dembinski et al. in their Full Paper on page 7569 ff. In the reduced species the electron is localized on one ring only, whereas in the oxidized species the electron is delocalized over both rings. These structures essentially provide a gate that can separate hole and electron transport between strands in DNA systems.
