Abstract: We thank the authors 1 for their excellent summary of potential mechanisms of anticancer action of metformin. The assays they suggest were included as core embedded correlative research activities in a proposal for a large scale phase III trial of metformin in the adjuvant breast cancer setting developed by our group.
