Abstract: The plates of a charged capacitor are connected by a loop of perfectly conducting wire. An integral-differential equation is derived for the charge on the capacitor and an existence and uniqueness result for the solution of the corresponding initial value problem is demonstrated. A short example illustrates the behaviour of the current in the circuit.
