The hematopoiesis paradigm: clarity or ambiguity?

Year: 2008
Type: article
Abstract: For several years, the lineage differentiation program of HSCs was believed to be well organized and unidirectional. However, data from recent studies question the commitment of lineage-restricted progenitors to a single lineage. Now, interesting work by Welner and colleagues presented in this issue of Blood suggests that the lineage differentiation pathways may be more complicated than initially thought.
