Abstract: Respiratory failure subsequent to cardiac surgery is associated with significantly high morbidity and mortality. We present post-cardiotomy adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) that was successfully managed with extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation. This treatment modality should be considered for similar cases of ARDS refractory to conventional measures.
