Le Paléolithique du Liban : bilan critique

Year: 2004
Type: article
Abstract: After it had reached a « Golden Age » during the 1960s and 1970s, prehistoric research in Lebanon was abruptly interrupted by political events in 1975. With the end of the conflict, field-work restarted in 1997. It is now an appropriate time to reevaluate the research undertaken in the country on the basis of the most recent chronological and cultural interpretations for each period of the Palaeolithic. The aim here is to assess the quality of the information available on each of the Palaeolithic periods which are so richly represented in the country. This is particularly important as the last synthesis was written over 20 years ago (Hours, 1992).
