Regulation of Respiration and Blood Gases*

Year: 1963
Type: article
Abstract: The increase in Cot content (ACco,) of fully oxygenated blood, when the PCO, is raised from 30 to 60 mm.Hg = .334h + 6.3, where h = 0 2 capacity of the blood.Hence ACco, = 12.6 vol.per cent per 30 mm.Hg.For 4 vol.per cent, the normal resting arterio-venous difference in CO, the tension gradient is thus about 10 mm.Hg.Method 2.
