Erdwolf oder Schwein? Ein Vergleich von Archäologie und schriftlichem Material
Year: 2011
Type: article
Abstract: The article lists the occurrences of the Egyptian word HDr, which so far has remained an enigmatic term for some kind of animal. Mainly on the basis of the analogies with other words, it is argued here that this animal is not an aardwolf but rather a pig or a wild boar. In support of this, a number of examples are cited from various Semitic languages of the Ancient Near East.
