Evaluation and Use of Diagnostic Tests in Alzheimer’s Disease

Year: 1998
Type: article
Abstract: PHYSICIANS rely on a complex process of clinical reasoning in order to establish a diagnosis.Rowland (9) quotes an "anonymous sage" who said that 90% of the neurologic diagnoses, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), depends on the medical history "and the remainder comes from the neurologic examination and laboratory tests."However, as new diagnostic tests for neurologic diseases are developed they will be used with increased frequency in clinical research and practice.
