Polarimetric signature of dense scattering media
Year: 2003
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: The polarimetric characteristics are experimentally investigated for dense scattering media such as compacted powders. The Mueller matrix is measured in backscattering configuration which is of interest for remote sensing as well as for characterizing rough scattering surfaces. Significant differences in various Mueller matrix elements are observed for different samples and are analyzed in terms of surface and volume scattering from an inhomogeneous medium.
