Abstract: Session 3. Biology of breast cancer II: Genetics and beyond S5Although the encouraging results observed with the use of chemoprevention in reducing breast cancer incidence in healthy, at-risk women [11], results from breast cancer prevention trials leave several unanswered questions, as well as the efficacy in healthy BRCA1/2 mutation carriers, ER-negative DCIS or prior ER-negative breast cancer who have a high risk of developing an ER-negative tumor: these high risk women represent a potential candidate group for phase I-II chemoprevention trials with novel agents targeting distinct molecular pathways, including EGFR, HER-2, COX-2 and RAR-RXRs [12].
