Abstract: A uniaxial tensile testing machine has been designed and built for operation under combined creep and fatigue conditions. The machine will operate at tensile loads up to 100 kg, and temperatures up to 1000°C at a vacuum of better than 10 μtorr. The equipment is particularly suitable for foil specimens and is currently being used to study the changes in dislocation substructure accompanying the high temperature deformation of metals and alloys.
