Abstract: Mitral insufficiency resulting from rupture of normal chordae tendineae occurs and can be recognized. It is subject to surgical repair. A patient with refractory cardiac failure due to mitral insufficiency on this basis has been totally rehabilitated by surgical repair of the valvular restraining mechanism.
