Abstract: Several isotopic techniques have recently been developed or substantially improved, allowing the accurate determination of the timing of fluid‐related processes. These include K‐Ar, Rb‐Sr, and Sm‐Nd dating of diagenetic minerals in clastic rocks, U‐Pb dating of carbonates, Sm‐Nd dating of fluorite and uraninite, Re‐Os and Rb‐Sr dating of sulfides, 40Ar‐39Ar and Rb‐Sr dating of fluid inclusions, and U‐Pb dating of ilmenite/magnetite, sphene, and rutile. While many of these techniques require further evaluation, some have already resulted in new constraints on a variety of crustal fluid flow models.
