Abstract: Absorption and emission spectra of Tm3+in YAlO3and GdVO4single crystals are reported and analyzed. Lifetimes of1G4(22 μs)3F4(5.1 ms) states in YAlO3and1G4(16 μs)3F4(2.3 ms) states in GdVO4are measured, Fluorescence decay curves of blue and infrared emissions are also been given. In addition, widely tunable laser performances of Tm:YAlO3and Tm:GdVO4lasers are demonstrated.
