Abstract: A 60-year-old woman recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis and treated with ibuprofen 800 mg 3 times daily presents with intermittent episodes of epigastric pain. The episodes began shortly after the ibuprofen was started, occur 1–2 times a day, and last 1–2 hours. Though the symptoms do not interfere with normal daily activities, the patient finds them quite bothersome. She has no prior history of gastrointestinal disease. She denies melena, hematochezia, vomiting, weight loss, and dysphagia, and takes no other medications.
