Abstract: Polarized Raman spectra of oriented single crystals of RbAg4I5 have been measured for all scattering geometries from 448K down to near the second-order phase transition at 208K. Unpolarized spectra were continued down to 136K. The authors have observed both the vibrations of the Ag+ ions relative to their cages of I- ions and the breathing modes of the cages themselves.
