Abstract: How has the agricultural sector in China performed over the past decades? Has China experienced a "green revolution" in agriculture as other Asian countries have? How does agricultural productivity in China today compare with the past and with other Asian countries? However, keeping up with population growth is a tremendous challenge, and China may face difficulties in the future. This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website.
