Abstract: Over recent decades, the French labor market has witnessed an increase in fixed-term and part-time contracts. Still, making intermittent employment (a specific form of contingent labor) the new norm is questionable. As a matter of fact, France’s employment is still structured around open-ended full-time contracts. Free labor advocates forget that particular forms of employment remain associated with dominated sides of labor markets. Finally, the paper describes the intermittency of the performing arts market, which is regularly regarded as the pattern of recent labor market changes.
