Abstract: Drastic changes are observed in both the magnitude and the energy dependence of the attachment cross section, sigma a ( epsilon ), for the formation of O - 2 with increasing N 2 density in O 2 -N 2 mixtures. At low densities sigma a ( epsilon ) exhibits distinct structure attributed to electron capture into vibrational states of O 2 - .
