Abstract: In October 2006, a panel of experts participated in a teleconference to discuss the reduction of stroke risk factors in patients at risk for stroke. The panel was chaired by John B. Kostis, MD, Professor and Chairman, Department of Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ. Also participating were Philip B. Gorelick, MD, MPH, Director, Center for Stroke Research, University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago, IL, and Franz H. Messerli, MD, St Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York, NY.
