Abstract: As this special issue shows, much research in social and personality psychology is directly relevant to health psychology. In this brief commentary, we discuss three topics in research methodology that may be of interest to investigators involved in health-related psychological research. The first topic is statistical analysis of mediated and moderated effects. The second is measurement of latent constructs. The third is the Multiphase Optimization Strategy, a framework for translation of innovations from social and personality psychology into behavioral interventions.
