Abstract: Chiral metallic nanohelices with periodicity in the submicrometer regime are made from twisted CdTe nanoribbons. These helices are highly effective in polarization rotation at wavelengths centered at their pitch length. Interestingly, the chiro-optical performance of helical nanoparticle assemblies is better than that of solid gold nanowires with similar geometries, which sets an important target for the design of metamaterials.
