Abstract: The probe, pIO-5, is a 1.7 kb genomic fragment of the MYH2 gene subcloned into the EcoRI site of pBR322 (1).Polymorphism: PstI digestion of genomic DNA reveals a 2 allele polymorphism.Al: 8.0 kb A2: 5.5 kb Frequency: The frequencies of the alleles, based on 102 chromsomes from the CEPH panel of families: A1: 0.72 A2: 0.28 Heterozygosity: Expected: 0.4; Observed: 0.375.Not Polymorphic For: BglII, BamHI, EcoRI, PvuII, TaqI.Chromosomal Location: MYH2 has previously been mapped to the short arm of chromsome 17 (17pl3) by linkage analysis (2).Mendelian Inheritance: Codominant segregation of the PstI RFLP was observed in the CEPH family panel.Other Comments: This RFLP was found to increase information at the MYH2 locus in 4 of 20 chromosomes previously typed for the HindIII RFLP (2).
