Abstract: Various methods have been proposed to conduct simulation optimizationfor discrete event systems such as manufacturing systems and telecommunications systems.We consider a periodic review (s, S) inventory system and report on simulation experiments with two proposed techniques: a deterministic '(retrospective" approach and a gradient-based algorithm.1
