Abstract: Source of material: The title compound, alternative name (£)-4benzyloxy-5-benzyloxymetìiyl-2-(/7-methoxy)-ben2ylidenetetrahydrofurane, was prepared byWittig reaction of triphenylphosphoniuintetrafluoroborate of 2-deoxy-3,5-di-0-benzyl-D-ribose and p-methoxybenzaldehyde using K-iert-butylate as base (see ref. 1 and 2).The resulting f/Z-mixture (ratio = 6:4) could be separated by MPLC.The £-isomer is recrystallized from isopropanol/hexane.C27H28O4, orthorhombic, P2\2i2\ (No. 19), a =6.184(2)A, ¿>=17.194(7)К c=21.400(7)К V=2275.4Ä^Z=4, ÄCF) =0.061, Äwff^) =0.121.
